Bilkis Bano case: Following the deadline set by the Supreme Court, all the 11 convicts in the Bilkis Bano case surrendered late on Sunday night in Godhra sub jail of Panchmahal district of Gujarat. Local crime branch inspector N.L. Desai said that all the 11 convicts surrendered before the jail authorities late on Sunday night.
The Supreme Court had given an important verdict on January 8, canceling the remission given by the Gujarat government to 11 convicts in this case. Along with this, the court had directed the convicts who were released prematurely on Independence Day in 2022 to surrender within two weeks.
Supreme Court had ordered surrender
A few days ago, the Supreme Court had rejected the petition regarding giving more time to the culprits to surrender and asked them to surrender by Sunday. These 11 convicts include Bakabhai Vohania, Bipin Chandra Joshi, Kesarbhai Vohania, Govind, Jaswant, Mitesh Bhatt, Pradeep Mordhiya, Radheshyam Shah, Rajubhai Soni, Ramesh and Shailesh Bhatt.
